WHY IS EUCALYPTUS A GOOD FIREWOOD CHOICE?
When it came to picking which trees to plant at Wildwood, Eucalyptus came out on top. These trees have a number of unique characteristics that make them ideal candidates for kiln drying logs.
Output of heat
Eucalyptus is recognized for its oil extracts rather than the tree itself, and when burned, it uses these natural oils to generate a high burn temperature. When you combine this with the fact that all of our wood is kiln-dried, these logs produce an extremely efficient and hot output, requiring less fuel to reach a high temperature than other wood types.
The high density of this hardwood, together with its high calorific value, gives it another edge in terms of burn quality. The calorie amount will influence the temperature at which the wood logs will burn. Dense wood will burn for longer.
There are two species of eucalyptus that we sell. The hue of red eucalyptus is a deep crimson. The wood is frequently figured. The most prevalent figure type is a bees wing design, however curling grain and burl are also common. Pink eucalyptus has a lovely pink tint that is nearly indistinguishable from the highly valued and pricey pink ivory. The pink eucalyptus has the same figure types as the red eucalyptus.
Eucalyptus is a fairly strong wood due to its density, but it is also very brittle and has a low shock resistance. Because eucalyptus is prone to cellular breakdown, drying deformation and surface checking are prevalent. The wood has a moderately long lifespan.
The wood is solid, but it cuts easily. The wood is excellent for wood turning, but it is check-prone, thus caution is advised. As the wood dries, it will distort, so keep that in mind. Eucalyptus Logs For Sale
